A CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY from the 1910 S25 set, card #S25.
Graded by Mint Condition: 7
This antique tobacco silk is exceptionally well-preserved. The centering is nearly perfect, and the embroidered surface shows no signs of aging beyond minor, expected thread fraying at the corners and left edge. Given its delicate composition, this piece retains high structural integrity.
Centering: 9 / 10
Front: The embroidery is very well-centered horizontally, with a negligible shift toward the bottom edge. Back: The reverse threads align perfectly with the front-side placement.
Corners: 7 / 10
Front: The Top Left and Bottom Left corners show minor fraying of the silk threads, while the right corners remain relatively stable. Back: Minor softening and light thread separation are visible on the reverse side of the left corners.
Edges: 8 / 10
Front: The left edge shows light fraying typical of silk premiums, while the other edges are quite clean for the era. Back: Light edge wear is present on the reverse, consistent with the age and delicate nature of the material.
Surface: 10 / 10
Front: The silk field is remarkably clean with no staining, holes, or significant discoloration. The embroidery is tight and vibrant. Back: The back of the embroidery is well-preserved with no signs of damage or environmental staining.
