This 1940 Play Ball Hank Gowdy is a very presentable vintage example. While the surface and centering are quite strong for the era, the final grade is primarily limited by the moderate rounding and wear visible on all four corners.

The front displays a clear shift toward the left edge, though the top and bottom borders are well-balanced.
Corners: 3 / 10
Front: All four corners show moderate rounding and whitening, typical for a vintage card of this age. The Top Left corner is particularly soft. Back: Rounding and visible shelf wear are present on all corners on the reverse side.
Edges: 7 / 10
Front: The edges show minor fraying and light chipping, most notably along the Bottom edge. Back: The reverse edges show standard age-related wear and minor roughness consistent with the card stock.
Surface: 8 / 10
Front: The front surface is clean with no visible creases, showing only natural age-toning and a few minor print specks. Back: The back surface is well-preserved with minor foxing and light spotting consistent with 1940s paper stock.
