This vintage 1940 Play Ball issue is in Very Good condition. While the surface and centering are relatively strong for the era, significant and uniform rounding on all four corners, combined with moderate edge fraying, limits the final grade.
Centering: 7 / 10
The front displays a slight shift toward the bottom and a minor horizontal preference to the right.
Corners: 2 / 10
Front: All four corners show significant rounding and heavy whitening consistent with long-term handling. Back: The corners on the reverse side mirror the front with pronounced rounding and loss of original sharpness.
Edges: 5 / 10
Front: Moderate fraying and small chips are present along all four edges, most visible on the top and right sides. Back: Consistent wear and minor chipping are visible across the back borders.
Surface: 8 / 10
Front: The surface has a natural aged patina with some minor print marks but remains free of major creases. Back: Uniform age-toning is present across the back, though the text remains bold and fully legible.
