A PETE APPLETON from the 1940 PLAY BALL set, card #128a. This is a great addition to any CHICAGO WHITE SOX collection.

This vintage card is restricted by significant structural issues, most notably a heavy horizontal crease through the center of the card. The corners are also heavily rounded, and the edges show typical wear for an 80-year-old issue. Despite these defects, the card remains intact with readable text and a clear player image.

The front displays a moderate shift toward the bottom edge, while horizontal centering is relatively balanced.
Corners: 2 / 10
Front: All four corners exhibit significant rounding and wear. The Top Right corner shows a small fold, and the Top Left shows heavy fraying. Back: The corners on the reverse side mirror the heavy rounding seen on the front, with noticeable whitening and loss of corner integrity.
Edges: 4 / 10
Front: The edges show consistent chipping and roughness. There is a small notch on the Top edge and visible wear along the Right edge. Back: Chipping and age-related wear are present along all four edges, most noticeably on the Top and Bottom edges.
Surface: 2 / 10
Front: A prominent horizontal crease runs across the center of the card, passing through the player's jersey. General surface toning and minor staining are also present. Back: The horizontal crease is clearly visible through the center of the text block. The surface shows significant age-toning and some light spotting.
