This vintage 1940 Play Ball card shows heavy wear and significant rounding on all four corners, which is the primary factor in this grade. While the centering and surface are respectable for its age, the degree of fraying on the corners and edges indicates a well-circulated condition.

Centering: 7 / 10
The front has a clear top-heavy vertical shift and a moderate left-heavy horizontal shift.

Corners: 2 / 10
Front: All four corners show heavy rounding. The Bottom Left corner is particularly worn with visible fraying of the card stock. Back: The back corners show significant rounding and softening consistent with the front.

Edges: 4 / 10
Front: The edges exhibit consistent fraying and minor chipping, most pronounced on the bottom edge. Back: There is noticeable shelf wear and small nicks along all four borders.

Surface: 5 / 10
Front: The surface shows natural age-related toning and a few minor dark spots near the top border. Back: The reverse displays uniform browning typical of 1940s paper stock and some very light surface soiling.
