This vintage Connie Hawkins card presents well overall but is held back primarily by surface issues. While the centering and corners are quite strong for a 1971 Topps basketball card, a visible vertical scuff in the blue field and red ink marks in the upper title text limit the technical grade. The edges also show standard chipping expected from the card stock of this era.
Centering: 9 / 10
The front has a slight top-heavy and left-heavy centering, common for this era.
Corners: 8 / 10
Front: The Bottom Left corner shows a tiny touch of whitening. The other three corners remain relatively sharp for a vintage issue. Back: All four corners on the reverse side show minor signs of softening and light fiber wear consistent with age.
Edges: 7 / 10
Front: The Left edge exhibits minor chipping and rough-cut artifacts. The Top and Right edges are fairly clean. Back: Typical vintage chipping is visible along the Right edge. The Top edge shows some minor fraying near the corner.
Surface: 5 / 10
There is a visible vertical scuff or light crease in the blue background to the right of the player's waist. Additionally, there are noticeable red ink marks on the 'X' of the Phoenix logo.
