A GENE HERMANSKI from the 1954 TOPPS set, card #228. This is a great addition to any PITTSBURGH PIRATES collection.
Graded by Mint Condition: 7
This card is in exceptional condition for a vintage 1954 issue, particularly regarding surface quality and color. The final grade is determined by the vertical centering and minor blunting on the corners. Because the centering is the primary detractor, it is a candidate for an off-center qualifier.
Centering: 7 / 10
The vertical centering is shifted toward the top edge, while the horizontal centering favors the left side.
Corners: 7 / 10
Front: All four corners show minor blunting and slight touches of wear, which is typical for a vintage issue. Back: The corners on the reverse side show uniform minor wear and slight whitening at the tips.
Edges: 7 / 10
The green-bordered reverse edges show very minor chipping but remain in good overall condition.
Surface: 10 / 10
Front: The front surface is excellent, with bright colors, strong gloss, and no visible creases or print defects. Back: The back surface is clean and well-preserved, with no signs of wax staining or surface damage.
