A PENN COLLEGE from the 1910 S25 set, card #S25.
Graded by Mint Condition: 2
While the surface and colors of this silk are exceptionally well-preserved, the grade is primarily limited by the heavy fraying and loose threads along the top edge and top corners. This level of material wear is common for the era but necessitates a lower technical grade.
Centering: 9 / 10
Front: The design is centered well vertically, while the horizontal alignment shows a slight preference for the left side. Back: The reverse of the weave shows central alignment consistent with the front.
Corners: 2 / 10
Front: Both Top corners show significant fraying and loose threads. The Bottom corners are much cleaner but still display minor softness in the fabric weave. Back: The Top corners exhibit heavy thread separation visible from the reverse. The Bottom corners show typical age-related softening.
Edges: 2 / 10
Front: The Top edge is heavily frayed with significant thread loss. The side edges remain relatively stable with standard stitching artifacts. Back: Extensive fraying is visible along the Top edge. The bottom edge shows mild fuzzing but remains mostly intact.
Surface: 9 / 10
Front: The silk surface is remarkably clean with vibrant blue color and crisp gold-tone embroidery. No significant snags or stains are present. Back: The reverse side shows a clean weave with no evidence of mounting residue or environmental damage.
