A UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY from the 1910 S25 set, card #S25.
Graded by Mint Condition: 5
This antique tobacco silk presents in strong condition for a 1911 release. The primary condition factors are the expected edge and corner fraying inherent to the silk medium and the top-heavy vertical centering. The surface integrity and embroidery remain excellent.
Centering: 6 / 10
Front: Horizontal centering is nearly perfect, while the vertical alignment shows a distinct shift toward the upper margin. Back: The alignment on the reverse side matches the front, favoring the top edge.
Corners: 5 / 10
Front: Each corner exhibits minor to moderate fraying with some loose silk threads, which is expected for this material type. Back: Fraying is evident at all four corners on the reverse, consistent with the overall fabric condition.
Edges: 5 / 10
Front: The edges are raw and show uniform fraying throughout, with the top edge being particularly close to the text. Back: The perimeter of the silk shows standard wear and loose threading along all sides.
Surface: 9 / 10
Front: The embroidered subject and surrounding silk surface are exceptionally clean and free from staining or significant fading. Back: The back of the silk is well-preserved with no signs of discoloration or significant surface damage.
