This vintage matchbook cover is graded based on several significant condition issues, including a prominent central fold, staple holes, and heavy ink markings on the reverse. The severe centering shift and substantial edge and corner wear are consistent with an item of this era and type.

The front displays a heavy left-side bias horizontally and an uneven vertical alignment.

Corners: 3 / 10
Front: The top corners show heavy fraying and jaggedness where the striker was once attached. The bottom corners exhibit significant rounding. Back: Rounding and softening are evident on all corners of the reverse, consistent with the front wear.

Edges: 4 / 10
Front: The top edge is rough and shows a staple hole from its original matchbook form. Chipping is visible along the side edges. Back: The edges on the reverse show notable age-related toning and minor chipping.

Surface: 2 / 10
The reverse has a handwritten '40' and a '1918' stamp, along with heavy staining and foxing throughout the surface.
